- What is the 2nd Base Foundation?
2nd Base Foundation is a non-profit organization which was founded to provide a Camp for “At Risk” and “Underprivileged” children. The organization maintains a website which provides additional information. - Who are “At Risk” children?
Children usually within the ages of 10 – 14, who can be found in all communities, but due to environment, economic setting, or dysfunctional home life, they are susceptible to the pitfalls of society, and become vulnerable to drug or alcohol use, or behavior which results in Juvenile court or detention. - How is Saint Joseph Church involved in this event?
The 2nd Base Foundation is one of several outreach ministries that we support each year. Several of our parishioners are closely associated with the Foundation, and have been involved, not only with its fundraising, but also contrasting its camp facilities. - When is the event?
It will be held on Saturday, February 13th beginning at 6:00PM. Where is the event? It will be held at the Country Hills Golf Club located at 1501 Saundersville Road in Hendersonville. - How do I get to the Country Hills Golf Club? From Nashville, take I-65 North to the Vietnam Veterans TN-386. Take Exit 8 and turn left at the traffic signal. Proceed about 1.6 miles where you will see the Club on your left-hand side.From Gallatin, take 31E toward Hendersonville. As you approach Saundersville Road, turn right. You will see a MAPCO Market immediately before the turn. Proceed about 1.6 miles where you will see the Club on your left-hand side.
- How much are the tickets?
The tickets are $25 per person, which includes your meal and drinks as well as entertainment. - What type of entertainment is included?
We are scheduled to have a number of entertainers including a Jazz Band, caricature artists, as well as other types of performers that one might see during a street fair. - What is included in the menu?
We are planning several traditional Cajun and Creole dishes including Gumbo. - What types of beverages are being served?
We will have a number of options including wine, beer and soft drinks. Drinks will be available during the reception and the dinner will include wine as well as ice tea. - Are there any hidden charges?
No. In fact, upon arriving you will be provided with some special coins that can be used as tips for our performers. The only other thing that might be of interest is a silent auction. We have a number of items donated by area business as well as a few companies in New Orleans that will be available. If you are interested in bidding on those items, that expense would be extra. - Where can I buy tickets?
We have them for sale in the church office which is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:00AM and 1:00PM. If that is not convenient, I can take your contact details and have one of the planning team telephone to make other arrangements. - How can I pay for the tickets?
Of course, we accept cash, as well as personal checks payable to Saint Joseph of Arimathea, but please indicate the 2nd Base Foundation in the memo line. - Can I make a reservation and then pay upon arriving at the event?
Unfortunately, we are not set-up to take reservations. - Do you accept credit cards?
Unfortunately, we are not set-up to take credit cards. - How will the money be used?
While we do not impose restrictions on the Foundation’s use of the monies, they are in the midst of a major capital campaign in order to raise money for its facilities at Camp Macleod. It is likely that most of the proceeds will be used for that work. - What percentage of the proceeds will go to staging this event or other administrative costs?
None. In fact, everything including the food and its preparation, as well as decorations and items for our auction have been donated. Likewise, the labor including our performers has been paid for by voluntary contributions.
